This policy explains, in plain language, exactly how the Voxcount website (this marketing site) uses cookies and similar technologies — what we set, why, for how long, and how you stay in control. It covers the website only; the Voxcount mobile app is described in our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. “Local storage” is similar, but the data stays on your device and is never sent to a server. Both let a site remember things between visits — like your preferences, or an anonymous identifier used to count visits.
Our approach, honestly
- Analytics is off until you choose. Nothing beyond the strictly-necessary item loads unless you accept.
- We never run advertising, marketing, or cross-site targeting cookies. None. That’s a deliberate choice.
- Our analytics (PostHog) is hosted in the EU, and we use it for aggregate trends — not to identify you.
- You can change your mind at any time, and it takes two clicks (see below).
The categories
The bare minimum for the site to respect your choices. Today that’s a single local-storage item that remembers whether you accepted analytics. It’s never used to track you and never leaves your device.
If you turn this on, we load PostHog to understand which pages people visit and how the site performs, so we can improve it. It sets a cookie holding a random identifier. We read aggregate trends, and we do not sell this data or use it to advertise to you.

Only the first item exists before you choose. Every PostHog entry is set only after you turn Analytics on, and is cleared or expires if you turn it back off — withdrawing is as easy as giving.
Separately, the live “Reveal” counter on our homepage records answers anonymously by country to show a running tally. It sets no cookie and we never store your IP address or any personal data — only an aggregate count.
Managing your choice
Use the preference center to turn analytics on or off at any time. It’s always one click away from the footer of every page.
You can also block or clear cookies entirely in your browser settings — clearing this site’s data removes both the stored choice and any PostHog cookie, and the banner will appear again on your next visit.
Third parties
The only third party involved is PostHog (analytics), and only if you accept. Voxcount is the data controller; PostHog acts solely as our data processor under a data-processing agreement, on EU infrastructure — so your analytics data does not leave the EU. You can read how PostHog handles data in their privacy policy. We do not share this site’s analytics with advertisers or data brokers.
